ENERGISE Communities

Sara Ghaem Sigarchian

Researcher & Project Manager at RISE Research Institutes of Sweden

About

Across Europe, communities are investing in solar energy, storage, electric mobility, energy communities, and flexible energy solutions. Yet many initiatives remain at pilot stage. While technologies such as PV, EMS, storage, flexibility services, and sector coupling are increasingly available, communities often lack the governance, financing, and operational models needed to scale them.

ENERGISE Communities will develop and validate integrated socio-technical models that help communities plan, finance, govern, and operate local energy systems. The project combines technical, governance, and implementation innovation, recognising that the key challenge is not only technology readiness, but the ability to organise, finance, and manage integrated energy solutions in practice.

Expected Outcomes

·        Validated socio-technical blueprints for integrated community energy systems.

·        Governance and ownership models for energy communities.

·        Bankability and investment frameworks for local energy infrastructure.

·        Demonstration of flexibility and sector-coupling solutions in real-world environments.

·        Replication roadmap for municipalities, regions, and energy communities across Europe.
