Scaling rural Energy Communities – From local pilot to european demonstrator
About
We are looking for cities, municipalities, energy actors and cooperatives to co-develop scalable models for rural energy communities with integrated energy sharing, local ownership and social resilience.
We are a Swedish research team coordinating the project Energigemenskaper på landsbygden (Energy Communities in Rural Areas), which has developed technical, social and financial prototypes for local energy sharing in off-grid-capable communities.
We now seek partners to scale this work into a European demonstrator, combining modular microgrids, smart energy control, V2G solutions, and community-driven business models.
We are especially interested in collaborating with:
-
Municipalities or rural regions with strong citizen engagement
-
Energy cooperatives or DSOs open to testing flexible grid configurations
-
Technology providers with off-grid / V2G / storage solutions
-
Researchers focused on participatory energy transitions or community resilience
The goal is to co-develop and test modular, transferable models of rural energy communities that improve energy resilience, reduce costs, and create shared value for local citizens.
If you are working with rural energy transformation, citizen engagement, or just want to build the future of energy — let’s talk!
