About
The Elisabetta Germani Foundation is a private non-profit organisation based in Northern Italy, operating in the social and healthcare sector with over 120 years of experience in supporting vulnerable people through integrated care services.
The Foundation delivers services across the care continuum, combining residential long-term care, intermediate care and home-based services. Residential care is provided through distinct units dedicated to people with Alzheimer’s disease and cognitive impairment, adults with physical and psychological disabilities, and general nursing home care, ensuring appropriate responses to different levels of need.
With around 300 professionals, the organisation supports approximately 300 people in residential settings and reaches a further 200 families through domiciliary services, promoting continuity and coordination across care settings.
The Foundation primarily works with older adults with complex needs, with a strong focus on dementia, as well as adults under the age of 65 with disabilities. Its care models integrate health, social and psychosocial dimensions, with the aim of supporting daily functioning and continuity of care over time.
As an end-user, the Foundation operates in real-life care delivery environments and brings the perspective of care providers, professionals, service users and informal caregivers. It contributes practical insight into care processes, organisational dynamics and user needs, and supports user-centred design, co-creation, pilot implementation and validation of innovative solutions, with particular attention to feasibility and sustainability in everyday care practice.
Within Horizon Europe Cluster 1, the Elisabetta Germani Foundation seeks to engage in projects addressing ageing, disability, integrated health and social care, long-term and community-based care, contributing to the effective translation of innovation into practice.
