CL6-2026-CIRCBIO-01-two-stage – Circular territorial living lab for phosphogypsum & mineral waste valorisation

Laboratory Head at National Center for Research in Materials Science (CNRSM), Technopole Borj Cedria. Tunisia.

Technopole Borj Cedria, Tunisia

About

We aim to co-develop a circular territorial living lab turning phosphogypsum and mineral industrial residues into high-value materials such as binders, sorbents, and rare-earth concentrates. Our laboratory (LPCMMA / CNRSM, Tunisia) has strong expertise in phosphate-based materials, rare-earth extraction and purification, nanostructured sorbents, membrane materials, and advanced characterization (XRD, SEM, FTIR, luminescence).

In this project, we will design and validate low-carbon transformation processes (TRL 3–5), integrate them into regional circular value chains, and collaborate with local stakeholders to build a reproducible and scalable circular model. We can lead the work on materials development, waste valorisation process engineering, characterization, environmental assessment (LCA/TEA), and pilot testing.

We are looking for:
• Municipalities and regions interested in establishing circular living labs
• Industrial waste producers (phosphate, mining, construction)
• Environmental agencies and water authorities
• Companies working on digital twins, monitoring tools, or territorial circularity
• Coordinators with experience in CIRCBIO or circular systemic projects
