About
The National Center for Research in Materials Science (CNRSM), based at the Technopole Borj Cedria (Tunisia), is a leading public research institution with strong links to European research and innovation frameworks. CNRSM develops advanced functional materials in circular bioeconomy, zero pollution, water systems, sustainable resources, and low-carbon technologies.
The center hosts several specialized laboratories and technological platforms covering materials synthesis, nanotechnology, mineral resources, rare-earth chemistry, environmental remediation and biomaterials. CNRSM provides state-of-the-art research infrastructure, including full structural and spectroscopic characterization (XRD, SEM, FTIR, photoluminescence …), processing and prototyping units.
CNRSM has a solid track record in EU-related collaboration through joint projects, bilateral partnerships, researcher mobility, industrial cooperation and publication networks. Our research aligns with the Circular Economy Action Plan, the Critical Raw Materials Act and the Zero-Pollution ambition. We focus on valorising mineral and industrial wastes (e.g. Phosphate, phosphogypsum, clay, sand ...), recovering rare earths and critical materials, developing low-energy processes, and creating sustainable materials for water, environment and bioeconomy sectors.
