HORIZON-CL6-2025-03-GOVERNANCE13: Strengthening Knowledge and Skills of Advisors
National Contact Point for Cluster 6, Soil Mission, Agdata, Prima, CBEJU at ISERD (Israel-Europe Research & Innovation Directorate), Israel Innovation Authority
Jerusalem, Israel
About
With this opportunity, we present RegenIL – The Center for Regenerative agriculture and MIGAL - Galilee Research Institute that are seeking to be part or lead a consortium responding to the growing need for a coordinated, future-facing approach to enabling agricultural advisors to support farmers and their workforce in navigating the transition to sustainable and economically viable agri-food systems.
The goal is to further develop and scale training models that build upon existing networks and build capacities and infrastructures to align everyday farm decisions with long-term ecological and climate goals – while supporting farm profitability and rural vitality. We envision those training models be strongly rooted in the principles of serving relevant content within accessible timing and in strong peer-to-peer connections grounded in real-life farming contexts.
Contribution to EU policy goals: Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), Biodiversity Strategy and Soil Mission, Farm to Fork Strategy, Green Deal and Climate Adaptation Strategies.
We offer:
-
Networks of farmer advisors, including those from extension services, of diverse interests, professionally active in providing advice to farmers across the EU, and already engaged in sustainability transitions across varied climate contexts of the Mediterranean basin.
-
Experience in managing and contributing to Living Labs, including co-development of practices and field-based diagnostic tools that help farmers and advisors efficiently assess soil and plant status and evaluate measurement and monitoring tools effectiveness in guiding decisions on the ground.
-
Capacity in multi-actor knowledge co-creation methodologies integrating field-level experience with scientific, policy, and economic research to support stakeholder-driven learning, policy feedback loops, and practical alignment and to ensure all training models are feasible and aligned with reality on the ground.
We are looking for partners experienced in:
-
Advisory and farm management in agroecology, agroforestry, biodynamic, carbon, and regenerative agriculture.
-
Designing training systems that support uptake and feedback loops around the EU Agricultural policy.
-
Integrating soil, biodiversity, and ecosystem services monitoring into advisor training and farmer decision-making.
-
Digital tools that support advisory services in farm work management, environmental observation, and participatory action.
-
Education and training design combining peer-to-peer learning, field demonstration, and on-site problem-solving.
RegenIL – The Center for Regenerative Agriculture is a multi-sectoral multi-actor community dedicated to advancing regenerative agriculture. Our mission is to catalyse a fundamental shift in how agriculture is perceived and practiced – recognizing it as a life-sustaining system in which natural resources form the cornerstone of food and nutritional security.
Our approach integrates three key components: (1) Disseminating knowledge and nourishing supportive networks to empower farmers and farmer advisors and promote the required field research; (2) Shaping a regulatory landscape that actively supports agroecological practices, removes systemic obstacles, and aligns policies with long-term ecological goals; (3) Developing and servicing knowledge on business models that incentivize and reward the adoption of regenerative farming principles.
MIGAL – Galilee Research Institute is a multidisciplinary applied research institute located in Northern Israel. Fully owned by Tel-Hai College, MIGAL is an integral part of the emerging University of the Galilee, currently under development. MIGAL specializes in agriculture, environment, biotechnology, and food science, and is committed to bridging cutting-edge academic research with real-world applications. The institute works closely with farmers, regional authorities, and industry partners to develop sustainable solutions tailored to Mediterranean and semi-arid conditions, while actively participating in international research initiatives such as Horizon Europe.
As a core partner in the LILAS4SOILS Horizon Europe project, MIGAL leads the Israeli Living Lab—RAGILL (Regenerative Agriculture Israeli Living Lab). This Living Lab focuses on the co-development and field validation of regenerative agriculture and carbon farming practices in collaboration with local farmers, researchers, agrotechnology companies, and regional councils. MIGAL coordinates multi-stakeholder engagement under the Quintuple Helix Innovation (QHI) model and contributes to the project's scientific, technical, and policy-oriented deliverables. The institute also provides soil monitoring infrastructure, agronomic expertise, and demonstration sites, helping to shape scalable solutions for healthy soils and climate resilience.
