Sustainable Supply Chain in Food Retail
About
This project proposes the development of an integrated sustainable supply chain model tailored for large-scale food retail in emerging economies, with Türkiye as a pilot case. The initiative is led by Istinye University in collaboration with one of Türkiye’s largest retail chains, combining academic research with real-world market dynamics. The goal is to design a scalable, environmentally responsible, and socially inclusive supply chain framework that integrates digital traceability, carbon footprint reduction, ethical sourcing, and circular economy principles. The project will also focus on SME integration, especially involving rural suppliers and local producers, supporting their transition toward sustainable practices. By bridging academia and industry, the project aims to create a model that can be replicated across Europe and beyond, contributing to Horizon Europe Cluster 6 goals in bioeconomy, clean environment, and green transition.
