Researcher at INTROMAC. As an Analytical Chemist, my research interests include analysis and characterization of industrial materials and environmental samples.
INTROMAC is a Research Institute of the Extremadura Regional Government (Spain). The centre is aimed to improve the competitiveness of companies within the construction sector, through R&D and innovation activities. It focuses in fundamental areas such as Energy Efficiency, Sustainability, New Materials, Structures, Historical Heritage and Industrial Processes optimization, relying upon specialized researchers and leading testing facilities. Our capacity in the validation of TRL6 to TRL9 prototypes as well as our experience in the management of the EDEA-CICE building innovation and quality centre in Cáceres (http://edeacice.juntaex.es), makes us a strategic partner with the capacity to develop projects aimed at achieving TRL6 or higher not only in the field of construction, but also in other fields.
PhD. in Analytical Chemistry (University of Oviedo, Spain). The topic of my PhD. thesis was the use of Solid Sample Analysis in combination with Mass Spectrometry techniques for the analysis and characterization of industrial and environmental samples (including soils and sediments, solar cells and automotive catalysts). The techniques I specialized were ICP-MS (both alone and in combination with Laser Ablation), Glow Discharge Mass Spectrometry and Glow Discharge Optical Emission Spectroscopy, although I also used other techniques for analysis and characterization of solid samples such as SEM, TEM and X-ray Fluorescence. Stays abroad during my Master Thesis and my PhD. thesis: Plymouth University (2011), Universidade de Lisboa (2011) and Université de Pau et des Pays de l’Adour (2014).
After finishing my PhD., due to my interest in environmental matters, I decided to add training in Environmental Management to my CV. As secondary skills, I have some knowledge on Logistics and Teaching.
I began working as a researcher in INTROMAC in January 2022, where my skills in solid sample analysis and characterization could be used in environment-related research, particularly in environmentaly-friendly building materials. There, I have acquired skills in Ecodesign and Circular Economy.
First, I had begun working in a project which was focused in the monitorization indoor radon levels and the development of membranes that can be used to prevent the penetration and accumulation of radon (a radioactive gas produced by the terrain of certain lithologies) into buildings.
Second, I've begun working in a new project in which the principles of Ecodesign and Circular Economy are put into use to monitor and improve the environmental performace of companies, especially manufacturers of building materials. This project is also aimed at making these principles known to the general public.
