Optimal feedback control of Industrial Vibratory Feeder for granular small products transportation

About

Vibratory conveyors are widely used in manufacturing applications and the processing industry to transport fi ne and granular materials. We have a method exploiting an optimal time control solution to improve the transient performance of a vibrating conveyor in order to achieve resonance in a minimum time. A conventional electromagnetic actuator is driven by a switching controller. Through accelerometric feedback of the conveyor vibrations, an optimal time excitation law is generated that eff ectively reduces the transient while maintaining persistent oscillations at resonance; in addition, the switching control reduces the current conduction time, thus improving energy effi ‐ciency compared to continuous-time control laws. The proposed solution reduces the cycle time of conveying granular and non-grain products that can be moved by vibration at least of 50% and simplifi es the control hardware compared to traditional solutions.
