Metavila: The bridge between the publishing market and the next generation of readers

The Vision

Metavila is a pioneering startup that connects Generation Z to the publishing market (physical books) through the digital, immersive, and interactive world of the metaverse. We use an environment they already master as a way to introduce literary content, products, and events, thus helping to form avid young readers.

The Market Opportunity

The challenge we address is cultural and, consequently, commercial. There is a disconnect between the traditional format of online book sales and the interactive daily lives of Generation Z. The crucial question is not just how to sell more books today, but how to ensure we will have engaged readers tomorrow. The market needs channels that not only distribute but also cultivate and build loyalty with the next generation of culture consumers.

A Phygital (Physical-Digital) Project

Metavila's answer is a project that integrates the best of both worlds. We are building Brazil's first themed literary ecosystem in the metaverse to be a meeting point for literature. In it, we offer:

  • Immersive Events and Communities: Book launches, interviews, and book clubs that make literature a social, interactive, and desirable activity.

  • Unique Discovery Journey: Users dive into themed literary spaces of their interest, with the ability to chat with other readers via text and voice, and interact with content to purchase their chosen titles.

  • Innovative Marketplace: Within this experience, young people discover and are captivated by the ability to buy physical books, which are delivered to their homes. We use the digital realm to create an emotional connection that materializes with the pleasure of holding a physical book.

Our Differentiator: Cultivating the Habit

Our greatest innovation is not technological, but conceptual. While others sell e-books, we use the digital environment to enrich the reader's relationship with the physical book. The startup doesn't just sell a product; it cultivates the habit of reading. We use the metaverse as a tool for social impact to go where young people are and make reading a relevant part of their lives.

Social Impact and Future Vision

The true power of this project lies in its social and sustainable impact. By creating a stimulating environment in Generation Z's own territory, we are lowering the barriers to entry for culture and contributing to the development of more critical and avid readers. For society and our partners, this represents the creation of a vibrant and perennial market of readers. We are starting in Brazil with the ambition to create a replicable model for other BRICS countries, redefining an entire generation's relationship with books.
