Test facility forfishing, aquaculture and underwater technology

Flume Tank North Sea is Europe’s largest flume tank, owned and operated by North Sea Science Park in Hirtshals, Denmark.

Our facilities are used for testing, measuring, and demonstrating equipment for fishing, aquaculture, and underwater technology.

We design, manufacture and adapt scale models and contribute with high precision to ensure the quality of technologies and development projects - benefitting our clients, their customers, and the marine environment.

The flume tank is also used for education, training, courses, and demonstrations. We tailor programs to meet the needs of clients and partners. We participate in innovative research and development projects in collaboration with scientists and commercial customers.

Anyone can make use of the test tank. While most of our clients work within fishing and aquaculture or scientific research, the tank is just as relevant for other industries—particularly those needing to test or showcase underwater solutions.

Flume tank North Sea is located in the North Sea Science Park - a specialized corporate - and educational facility of totally 119.000 sqm, focusing on the ocean, aquaculture, fishing and sustainability. The facilities consist of office spaces and meeting/conference rooms, catering for both daily lunches and gourmet dinners, educational- and research rooms, laboratories and the unique option to have salt water delivered to your test facility directly from the North Sea. The North Sea Science Park is home to DTU Aqua, BioMar, Greenport North, Flume Tank North Sea etc., and has strong collaborations both locally, nationally, and internationally.
