Celignis is an SME, located in Limerick, Irealnd. It is established in 2013 and has over 1000 clients across the globe. Celignis has analytical and bioprocess departments and has so far handled >30,000 biomass derived samples for various types of analysis, and over 15 types of biomass for various types of products. .

Over the years (from 2016), through Horizon and CBE programs funding, Celignis has developed several technologies, and the most important of them all is mild fractionation and pretreatment of biomass, and extracting polysaccharides in their native form from complex biomss streams (wood, grass, process resdiues, seaweeds etc) and modifying them for perosnal care, cosmetics food, feed, paints and coatings applications. The residues from this process are hydrolysed to sugars and fermentation tested. As our technolgies progressed to TRL-5, Celignis In April 2023 Celignis joined the Bio-based Industries Consortium (BIC) as a Full Industry SME Member. Celignis is involved in seven ongoing CBE projects and has secured two new CBE projects (1 RIA and 1 IA) this year. Celignis is equipped with the necessary capabilities for bioprocessing up to 1,000 L scale. Technology development and bioprocessing for high-value materials and chemicals is our passion, and we welcome collaboration with like-minded businesses and research organisations to develop and demonstrate biobased products.

Regarding our completed CBE-JU projects, they were funded as part of the Biomass Based Industries Joint Undertaking (BBI-JU) programme. The BBI-JU was the precursor to the CBE-JU for which 2022 was the first year of operation. Our first such project, the RIA project BIOrescue, was completed in 2019, whilst the RIA project UNRAVEL ended in 2022 and the Innovation Action project VAMOS was completed in 2023.

Celignis's Lalitha and Dan have years of experience putting together and writing proposals for EU funding and have also both worked as Expert Evaluators for the BBI-JU and CBE-JU and so are very familiar with what is required for an excellent proposal and improved chances of being funded.
