Antarctica loses the equivalent of one Mount Everest of ice every year—just one stark indicator of the accelerating climate crisis. While renewable energy sources are essential to reverse this trend, their large-scale deployment depends on the availability of a scalable, efficient, and sustainable energy storage solution. Green hydrogen stands out as the most promising option. However, hydrogen adoption remains painfully slow. The main barriers are the lack of distribution and refueling infrastructure, the high cost of hydrogen supply—especially in mobility—and the limited efficiency and lifetime of current fuel cell systems. Hydros Power was founded to remove these barriers. To do so, we developed STELION, a fully decentralized green hydrogen ecosystem. STELION is composed of STELION Powertrains, modular hydrogen energy storage systems designed to replace conventional battery systems and to supply clean, continuous power to refrigerated containers and refrigerated semi-trailers. These are complemented by STELION Capsules, plug-and-play hydrogen capsules that enable fast and flexible refueling. This approach eliminates the need for large upfront CAPEX investments, allowing customers to simply pay for the hydrogen they consume. Innovation is embedded in Hydros Power’s DNA. Our last-mile hydrogen supply capsules remove the need for cooling systems, reducing hydrogen supply costs by up to 28%. Made from recyclable organic materials with very high porosity, these capsules store hydrogen at ambient temperature, achieve energy densities suitable for mobility applications, and reduce operating pressure requirements by 30%. At the system level, STELION Powertrains achieve up to 20% higher overall efficiency through an advanced energy management system based on Deep Reinforcement Learning. This software-driven optimization also extends fuel cell lifetime by up to 38%, significantly lowering total cost of ownership. With STELION, Hydros Power enables the decarbonization of diverse energy ecosystems, with a strong focus on cold-chain logistics fleets, heavy transport, aerial mobility, urban mobility, and off-grid energy storage applications.
