Cleanergi develops projects based on its own intellectual property in adiabatic Compressed Air Energy Storage (CAES) and integrated projects. At large scale these are bigger, longer-duration, cheaper and more efficient (whole-system, whole-life) than batteries, and last 5 times as long (40-60 years).

Cleanergi’s CleanCAES™ is the world’s most efficient and cost-effective large-scale long-duration electricity storage that is widely implementable. Validated by numerous multinational engineering companies, it can be built with standard equipment and engineering, available from many suppliers. It operates at 40MW to multi-GW and can be configured more flexibly and deliver more capability than any other plant. It is also much less affected by environmental matters such as heat than other technologies.

Cleanergi’s CleanStart™ is the only storage technology able to deliver Black Start, at grid scale, without reserving operational capacity and thereby without reducing its operational capability and earnings potential.

Cleanergi’s CleanPark™ is much more than an energy park. It integrates supply, storage, demand and the to a unique degree, to benefit them all in capital costs, operational costs, efficiency and plant life. It can power industry, towns, energy parks, campuses etc. reliably and renewably, and also support the regional grid. This is ideal when grid connections are a problem, whether through costs or constraints.

Cleanergi’s CleanGrid™ integrates renewables, grids and storage. Each new GW offshore wind requires (in the UK) over £3bn / $4bn investment (growing fast) in grid upgrades, plus grid connection and sourcing / connecting the balancing and ancillary services. Building suitable-scale storage between large-scale renewable generation and grids, more than doubles the benefits of stand-alone storage. If the storage is synchronous (naturally inertial, large rotating machines, of which CleanCAES is by far the best) it also adds all the ancillary services that make the grid operable, reliable and resilient, saving grids much more capital and operational costs.
