CleanGrid - Integrating grid, storage and large-scale renewables

CleanGrid puts CleanCAES or other storage between renewable generation and the grid. If of suitable scale and duration, it replaces intermittency with dispatchability (variability on demand), so balancing services are not necessary, grid connection size is reduced by between 1/2 and 5/6 (depending on which renewables, and how dispatchable or baseload the energy is wanted), and grid reinforcement is reduced even more - usually to just local reinforcement. This saves billions in grid reinforcement and connection, and in building / connecting / procuring additional balancing services, per GW of renewables. If the storage is synchronous (of which CleanCAES is by far the best), then it also adds the ancillary services needed for grid operability, reliability and resilience, saving the cost and grid reinforcement needed to build, connect and procure these. The grid capex savings are worth much more than the CleanCAES plant cost, with opex savings additional.
