Functionalized biomaterials for industrial applications
Cooperation, Innovation, Transfer at INNOVENT e.V.
Jena, Germany
About
INNOVENT focuses on the targeted development of novel biopolymers for industrial applications. The goal is to create specific material properties through chemical and physical modifications, such as mechanical stability, surface activity, or adaptation to specific conditions. Targeted design approaches are central to this process: starting materials are systematically selected and modified using methods such as surface functionalization, the incorporation of functional additives, or targeted structural modifications. This results in materials whose properties are tailored from the outset to the requirements of specific applications. Simultaneously, structure- and property-based characterization is performed to understand the effects of the functionalizations and to efficiently further develop the materials. This allows for the creation of new materials with defined performance profiles that are precisely suited to industrial applications.
