Nature-Based Strategies for Restoration of Contaminated Soils
Researcher at University of Torino - Dept. Life Sciences and Systems Biology

About
We are looking for project partners to collaborate on innovative research focused on microbiome‑based bioremediation and nature‑based strategies for restoring contaminated soils. Our work investigates soil microbial communities exposed to polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), with the aim of identifying, selecting, and applying fungal and bacterial strains capable of degrading pollutants and supporting ecosystem recovery.
Based at the University of Turin (DBIOS) and contributing to the National Biodiversity Future Center (NBFC) – Spoke 5 Urban Biodiversity, our research combines microbial ecology, metabarcoding, cultivable strain characterization, and biological control approaches. We aim to co‑develop scalable, low‑impact remediation tools integrating scientific research with real‑world environmental applications.
We welcome collaboration with industry partners, research institutions, environmental agencies, municipalities, and companies interested in soil restoration, circular bioeconomy approaches, microbial technologies, and sustainable land management. Together, we can develop robust, microbiome‑driven solutions to address environmental pollution and support biodiversity‑centered urban regeneration.
