Zipli App: Real-time food rescue for industrial kitchens & retailers
Founder & CEO at Zipli
Helsinki, Finland
About
The Zipli App is a digital tool designed to simplify and scale up excess food redistribution for restaurants, industrial kitchens, retailers, wholesellers and food manufacturers. Our mobile app enables food providers to easily list excess meals — such as untouched buffet food or pre-packaged food items — by simply snapping a photo and adding key details like type, volume, and pickup window.
Our smart matching algorithm instantly connects surplus offers with verified community receivers, like charity kitchens, based on their needs and location, logistics capacity and food safety requirements.
The result? Less food goes to waste, more people are fed — and food providers gain full traceability and reporting with minimal effort.
With the operational model already piloted with great success in Finland’s capital region, Zipli is currently onboarding restaurant chains such as Sodexo and Soupster Family and local NGOs with community kitchens.
Zipli’s operations are funded through platform licenses from cities and transaction-based revenue from organizations selling surplus food. This allows us to offer the app free for donors and community kitchens, with optional logistics and premium insights available for an additional fee.
We’re looking for forward-thinking organizations in the HoReCa, public food service, and nonprofit sectors interested in piloting Zipli’s solution to advance circular economy, reduce food waste and create measurable social impact. Happy to talk more soon!
