Space-Enabled Capabilities for Law Enforcement Against Climate-Related Security Threats

Owner at NavAware

About

NavAware is working on a space-enabled security project focused on climate-related crimes and climate-driven crisis scenarios, aligned with Horizon Europe Cluster 3 – FCT and DRS priorities.

The project integrates satellite-based services (GNSS and Earth Observation) with resilient Positioning, Navigation and Timing (PNT) and AI-driven sensor fusion to provide reliable situational awareness in environments affected by climate change, infrastructure damage, or intentional interference.

By fusing multi-GNSS, inertial sensors, space data, and intelligent anomaly detection, the solution supports the detection, monitoring, and response to environmental crimes (e.g. illegal activities impacting natural resources) and large-scale disasters such as floods, wildfires, and extreme weather events.

The technology is designed as a dual-use security capability, supporting law enforcement agencies, civil protection authorities, and emergency responders, particularly in GNSS-challenged or degraded environments. The project aims to strengthen operational decision-making, resilience, and trust in security operations under climate stress conditions.
