About

Wastewater plants and industry produce huge volumes of wet organic residues — sewage sludge, biomass, organic waste. Today these are a cost: expensive to handle, and incineration first needs energy-intensive drying, because you cannot efficiently burn something that is mostly water. Our technology is supercritical water gasification. Instead of drying the waste, we use the water itself as the reaction medium. Above the critical point of water — beyond 374 degrees and 221 bar — the organic matter is converted, with no pre-drying, into a methane- and hydrogen-rich gas we call ener-gas, plus clean water and recoverable phosphorus. And because we recover the process heat internally, the system is energy-positive in steady state. Our goal in this project is to take a corrosion-resistant reactor with integrated heat recovery from TRL 6 to TRL 8 — a real demonstration in an operational environment — paired with a digital MRV layer that verifies the energy, water and CO2 benefits. The expected impact: lower-cost waste treatment, renewable energy and clean water at local scale, recovery of phosphorus as a critical raw material, and a blueprint other regions can replicate.
