I am an Assistant Professor in Real Estate and Urban Development at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), with a background in urban geography and planning. My research sits at the intersection of housing studies, urban geography and planning, and connects the structural forces shaping housing markets with the decisions households make within them.
My work develops along two main lines. First, I study the political economy of housing, including housing financialisation, rental-market regulation, housing affordability, investor behaviour and the distributional consequences of housing-market change. Second, I study housing choice and residential mobility, including decisions about renting, buying, moving, settlement and housing investment, and how these decisions relate to residential satisfaction, social inclusion and quality of life.
Methodologically, I combine large-scale housing listing and transaction data with surveys, choice experiments, econometric analysis, and qualitative and institutional research. My work is comparative and cross-national, with a particular focus on Europe and China.
I am interested in developing MSCA collaborations in housing, residential mobility, urban studies, real estate, inequality, sustainable housing, energy renovation and urban transitions. In particular, I am interested in joining MSCA Doctoral Network consortia as a TU/e beneficiary and supervising a doctoral candidate, as well as hosting prospective MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowship applicants at TU/e.
Previously, I was an NWO Rubicon Fellow at Freie Universität Berlin. I obtained my PhD in Urban Studies from Delft University of Technology and have previously been awarded a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship.
