Seeking MSCA Doctoral Network partners in housing, residential mobility and urban transitions

About

I am an Assistant Professor in Real Estate and Urban Development at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), the Netherlands. I am looking to join an MSCA Doctoral Network consortium as a beneficiary, with TU/e hosting and supervising a doctoral candidate.

My research sits at the intersection of housing studies, urban geography and planning and develops along two connected lines:

  1. Political economy of housing: housing financialisation, rental-market regulation, housing affordability, investor behaviour, housing wealth and the distributional consequences of housing-market change.

  2. Housing choice and residential mobility: household decisions about renting, buying, moving, settlement and housing investment, and their relationships with residential satisfaction, social inclusion and quality of life.

Methodologically, I work with large-scale housing listing and transaction data, surveys, choice experiments, econometric methods, and qualitative and institutional analysis. My research is comparative and cross-national, particularly across Europe and China.

I would be particularly interested in Doctoral Networks addressing themes such as:

• housing affordability and inequality
• residential mobility and housing choice
• household decision-making and behavioural responses
• housing market regulation and financialisation
• sustainable housing and energy renovation
• urban transitions and quality of life
• housing investment and real estate markets
• comparative European housing research

A possible doctoral project hosted at TU/e could examine how housing institutions, market conditions and policy interventions shape household residential decisions and their distributional outcomes.

I am also interested in collaboration with non-academic partners such as municipalities, housing associations, government agencies, investors and housing-sector organisations for secondments, training and knowledge exchange.

I previously held a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship and therefore bring first-hand experience with the MSCA framework, proposal development and researcher training.
