I am leading an interdisciplonary group on microbe-material interactions. We are studying how antimicrobial materials affect gene expression, whether these induce tolerance, affect bacterial evolution or direct accumulation of mutations over time.
I am currently working as Professor of Genetics at University of Tartu, Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology, Estonia. My background is biology and microbial genetics and I am leading a research group that focuses on microbe-material interactions:

Our interdisciplinary group consists of chemists, material scientists, biologists, bioinformatics-oriented people, and we are studying how microbes respond to antimicrobial stress - which genes they express, whether they induce tolerance, how they evolve, which mutations accumulate due to antimicrobial stress over time.
