Riga Technical University (RTU) is a leading technical university in the Baltic region, established in 1862. As an accredited institution in Latvia, it excels in science, innovation, and education, playing a key role in regional technological progress.

Structure and Research RTU comprises six academic units, including faculties of engineering, IT, economics, architecture, and a maritime academy. Research is organized into 6 research platforms:

• Information & Communication;

• Transport;

• Materials & Processes;

• Security & Defence.

With 1,100 academic staff and 15,000 students, including 2,763 international students, RTU is recognized for research in sustainable energy, ICT, robotics, AI, and biomedical engineering. Notable achievements include innovations in battery systems, photovoltaic cells, IoT, and machine learning.

RTU collaborates globally through Horizon Europe projects and has been recognized by the European University Association for its progress toward excellent science and becoming an entrepreneurial university.
