Faculty of Civil and Mechanical Engineering is one of the four faculties of RTU, offering programmes in civil, mechanical, and industrial engineering, integrating theoretical learning and hands-on practice to prepare students for careers in construction, transportation, mechanical engineering, and infrastructure development. There are several institutes and potential supervisors within this faculty offering postdoctoral research hosting:

The Institute of Sustainable Building Materials and Engineering Systems is looking for excellent postdoctoral researchers to apply for Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship (MSCA-PF) in 2026. If you are an early-career researcher or a recent Ph.D. graduate looking for research, we invite you to conduct research on a topic of your choice. We provide expert supervision and support in the following fields:

·       Advanced composites and lightweight materials for enhanced sustainability

·       CO₂-neutral building materials and sustainable construction solutions

·       Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of building materials and construction processes

·       Durable and energy-efficient materials for construction and industrial applications

·       3D concrete printing / bio / and CCUS-based building materials

Who can apply?

·       Must have been awarded or successfully defended their PhD by 9 September 2026

·       No more than 8 years of full-time research experience since receiving PhD

·       Must not have resided or worked in Latvia for more than 12 months before the call deadline
