About

The URLA-UVASMET is an IRB-CatSud research group with more than 30 years’ experience in the study of lipid and lipoprotein metabolism and cardiovascular disease. Its core feature is the combination of basic and clinical science with cutting-edge biotechnological solutions.

Our current research lines are:

•        Familiar Hypercholesterolemia and primary dyslipidemias (metabolic and genetic characterization, evaluation of sub-clinical atherosclerosis and clinical assays)

•        NMR metabolomics applied to biomarker discovery in lipoprotein metabolism, diabetes and residual risk

•        Cardiovascular risk in rheumatological and autoimmune diseases (miRNAs, lipoprotein profile, etc)

•        Characterization of ectopic fat in non-adipose tissues (Diabetic Cardiomyopathy or Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD))

Candidate profile

The candidate should be comfortable working in a translational environment integrating clinical cohorts, mechanistic studies, and AI-driven data analysis. The aim is to provide the LIRIC research environment to foster the fellow’s career development while integrating the new expertise and perspectives brought by the candidate, which will in turn contribute to strengthening and expanding the scientific potential of our research.
