Collaboration for Doctoral Networks (DN) in Marine Renewable Energy or River Engineering

Burhan Yildiz

About

My research sits at the intersection of civil engineering, marine renewable energy and environmental fluid mechanics. I am a Lecturer in Maritime Energy Engineering at the University of Liverpool, UK, and I am looking to build international collaborations around MSCA Doctoral Networks and other European research opportunities.

My current work covers the hydrodynamics, modelling and engineering of renewable energy systems, with particular emphasis on wave energy converters and tidal energy. I also have a strong background in river hydraulics, hydraulic structures and experimental and computational fluid mechanics.

I am keen to connect with researchers and organisations whose expertise could complement these areas, whether through an existing MSCA Doctoral Network proposal or by developing a new consortium around a shared research challenge.

Potential areas of research can include:
• Marine energy systems
• Wave energy converters and wave–structure interaction
• Tidal energy and tidal turbine development
• Experimental investigation of free-surface and environmental flows
• Numerical and physical modelling of hydraulic systems
• River hydraulics and hydraulic structures
• Fluid–structure interaction and engineering applications of CFD
• Performance assessment and optimisation of renewable energy technologies
• Digital twins and advanced computational approaches for marine energy
• Sustainable maritime energy and decarbonisation

I would particularly welcome contact from researchers developing complementary expertise, as well as universities, research institutes and companies looking for academic partners for MSCA Doctoral Networks.
