Potential cooperation under Horizon Europe HERITAGE-05

Dear Colleagues,

We are currently developing a project concept for the Horizon Europe call HORIZON-CL2-2026-01-HERITAGE-05 – Creative alliances: fostering global partnerships in cultural policies and CCI innovation, and we would like to explore potential cooperation with organisations interested in this topic.

The concept we're working on currenly called Heritage Marker: Global Cooperation for Cultural Resilience. It focuses on the digital preservation and creative usage of cultural heritage. A key practical element of the project will be the development of the Heritage Marker platform. The platform is intended to host structured digital records and digital twins of cultural heritage assets, supported by AI-based tools for content organisation, search, navigation and, where relevant, reconstruction or visual interpretation of damaged heritage. One of the main pilot cases is planned in Kharkiv, Ukraine, where the full-scale war has demonstrated how quickly historical buildings, cultural collections and other heritage assets can be damaged or lost if detailed digital documentation does not exist. The project would use this experience together with additional international pilot cases to test a transferable approach to digital heritage preservation under different cultural and institutional conditions.

The project is not intended to create only a digital archive. An important part of the concept is to make digitised heritage usable by cultural and creative industries through digital exhibitions, storytelling, educational products, visualisation and other creative applications. The main expected result will therefore be a tested international model for digital heritage preservation and reuse, supported by an operational Heritage Marker platform, real pilot cases, a practical methodology for heritage digitisation and crisis response, and policy recommendations for international cooperation in this field.

At this stage, we'd like to form the project consortium, refining the Heritage Marker concept together with interested partners, and preparing the full Horizon Europe application. We are therefore looking for organisations that could contribute relevant expertise, pilot cases, technical solutions, cultural and creative activities, or policy perspectives and take an active role in developing and submitting the proposal.

We're looking for:

• Partners with specialization in computer sceince, with experience in AI and digital twins;

• Partner universities and organizations from Latin America, Asia and Africa.
