About

The Applied Genome Editing for Advanced Therapies (eGATA) group at GENyO (Granada, Spain), led by Karim Benabdellah, is interested in hosting a Marie Curie Fellowship. The research group focuses on the development of advanced cancer therapies based on genome editing, cellular immunotherapy (CAR-T), and advanced delivery systems. Its main goal is to overcome key limitations of these therapies
(particularly in acute myeloid leukemia and solid tumors) through strategies that combine genetic engineering, nanoparticles, and novel cellular sources.

In addition to its five main research lines (tumor microenvironment, therapeutic exosomes, fourth-generation CAR-T cells, new cellular sources, and universal CAR-T cells), the group stands out for its strong international projection, structured around the coordination of a European COST Action (GenE-HumDi; CA21113).

Karim Benabdellah is a researcher specialized in genome editing, gene therapy, and advanced cellular immunotherapies, with a strong translational focus on CAR-T approaches for cancer. Since 2018, he has led the eGATA group and has built a solid scientific track record with 50+ peer-reviewed publications in top journals, alongside participation in competitive national and European projects (7 in total, acting as principal investigator in 4). His work has also generated tangible outputs, including 5 patents and technology transfer agreements, and he is co-founder of two spin-offs (Lentistem S.L. and EVOSTem Theranostic S.L.). He has supervised a total of 5 Postdoctoral researchers, 6 PhD students and has mentored more than 14 master’s theses. He demonstrates strong international leadership as coordinator of the COST Action GenE-HumDi and is actively involved in key research networks such as RICORs-TERAV, Rantecar, and CorEuStem.
