About

The Progress and Health Foundation (FPS, https://www.juntadeandalucia.es/fundacionprogresoysalud) is a non-for-profit organization which belongs to the Andalusian Regional Ministry of Health and Families. FPS provides services to the Andalusian Public Health System (APHS) through three lines of activity: Research and Innovation (R&I), Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and IAVANTE, which includes training and evaluation of professional expertise. The Andalusian Agency for Healthcare Quality (hereafter, ACSA, its Spanish initials) is an arms-length organisation to the APHS due to its’ necessary independence to fulfil their evaluative role, that is attached to - and receives managerial support from - the FPS. The FPS also coordinates the activities of the Andalusian Public Health System Technology Transfer Office (OTT-SSPA as per its Spanish acronyms). The FPS’ goal is to boost health research and innovation in the region through the R&I area, which is responsible for providing the centres and research groups that are part of the FPS with the necessary facilities and support to successfully complete the whole scientific process, especially for biomedical research. The R&I department of FPS is an umbrella for research centres and areas, and other resesrch support infrastructure. The research centres and areas within the R&I department are: the Andalusian Network for the design and translation of Advanced Therapies (hereafter, RAdytTA, its Spanish initials); the Andalusian Molecular Biology and Regenerative Medicine Centre (hereafter, CABIMER, its Spanish initials); the Centre for Genomics and Oncological Research (hereafter, GENYO, its Spanish initials); the Andalusian Centre for Nanomedicine and Biotechnology, (hereafter, BIONAND, its Spanish initials); the Big Data Area; the Clinical Bioinformatics Area of FPS; the HTA area of FPS (AETSA-FPS); the APHS Biobank; and the APHS Virtual Library.
