About

The group “Proteases and Extracellular Matrix”, leaded by Dr. Juan Carlos Rodríguez-Manzaneque at GENYO. Centre for Genomics and Oncological Research, in Granada (Spain), is interested in hosting a Marie Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship. Dr Juan Carlos Rodríguez-Manzaneque is interested in studying the capacity of extracellular proteases to model the tumor microenvironment, particularly the immune infiltrates in close connection with the vascular niche. Such studies have special relevance for the understanding of mechanisms of drug resistance (such as antiangiogenic and immune-therapies) that certain tumors develop. The convergence of advanced platforms of genomic and proteomic analyses, together with the functional study of the phenotype of cells under various extracellular tumor scenarios, appeared as a consistent perspective to advance in the fight against tumor progression. Dr Rodríguez-Manzaneque has been devoted for many years to the study of extracellular matrix remodeling, mostly in the context of tumor plasticity and neo-vascularization. He developed his career in this field since his postdoctoral training at the laboratory of vascular biology world-leader Dr Iruela-Arispe (UCLA, USA). He has made unique contributions to the identification of substrates of ADAMTS proteases, its role in progression of a range of carcinoma types and its actions in tumor cell plasticity. Such studies have been reported in top journals such as PNAS, Cancer Research, Matrix Biology, Nature, Cancers, Cell Research, and others.
