Socio-cognitive VR rehabilitation for neurocognitive patient–caregiver dyads – Lombardy scientific institution with expertise in neurorehabilitation

ICS Maugeri (Lombardy, Italy) is a scientific institution including different clinical centers in Italy specialized in high-quality rehabilitation for neurological, cardiologic and respiratory patients. Scientific activity is carried out across 52 research laboratories dedicated to basic, clinical and translational research, with advanced expertise in robotic and virtual-reality-based rehabilitation, data-driven approaches to rehabilitation, telemedicine and smart-home technologies. The organization manages large, homogeneous patient cohorts supported by internally maintained clinical databases and participates in numerous national and international research projects.

For the UNITE JIP call, we aim to advance an immersive VR socio-cognitive rehabilitation program for training in neurocognitive patient–caregiver dyads, enabling personalized and home-based interventions focused on real social interactions.

We are seeking a partner from a Strong Innovation region, ideally with expertise in digital health or VR-immersive technologies, to join our consortium. ICS Maugeri is available to act as project coordinator. The consortium already includes the end-user association Alzheimer Hellas, ensuring direct engagement with target users and co-design throughout the project.
