AI and supercomputing for biomedical and clinical data

R&D Technician – Biomedical AI, Bioinformatics & HPC at COMPUTAEX: Extremadura Supercomputing Center

Cáceres, Spain

About

COMPUTAEX – Extremadura Supercomputing Center (Cáceres, Spain) is interested in joining collaborative R&D projects as a technological and scientific partner in artificial intelligence, bioinformatics, biomedical data analysis and high-performance computing for biomedical and clinical data.

We can contribute to projects involving clinical prediction models, medical image analysis, omics and genomic data integration, patient stratification, decision-support systems, biomarker discovery and personalized medicine. Our team brings together expertise in biomedical engineering, biochemistry, bioinformatics, machine learning, data science and advanced computing, with experience in applying AI to structured clinical data, imaging data and heterogeneous biomedical datasets.

COMPUTAEX can support partners throughout the full computational workflow: data preprocessing and harmonization, feature engineering, statistical analysis, machine learning and deep learning model development, validation, explainability, technical documentation, scientific reporting and deployment of computational pipelines in HPC environments.

As a supercomputing center, COMPUTAEX provides advanced computing infrastructure and expertise in scalable computational workflows, enabling the training, testing and optimization of complex AI models requiring high-performance computational resources.

We are particularly interested in joining consortia involving hospitals, clinical research groups, universities, biotech companies and health-tech SMEs with access to biomedical datasets, clinical cohorts, medical images, genomic/omics data or well-defined healthcare challenges where AI and advanced computing can provide added value.

COMPUTAEX has experience in collaborative R&D activities at the intersection of artificial intelligence, biomedical data analysis, bioinformatics and high-performance computing. Within the framework of the Complementary Plans in Biotechnology Applied to Health, the center has contributed to projects focused on the analysis of complex clinical and biomedical datasets, including AI-based workflows for patient stratification, prognostic modelling, survival analysis, metabolomic characterization and the identification of clinically meaningful phenotypes in heart failure.

COMPUTAEX has also participated in VISIONAI, focused on artificial intelligence and advanced computing for early diagnosis in ophthalmology, and IA4ART-ML, focused on machine learning models for the prediction and optimization of assisted reproduction treatments. These activities have strengthened the center’s capabilities in biomedical data preparation and curation, predictive modelling, medical image analysis, model validation, explainable AI, statistical analysis and technical validation in supercomputing environments.
