About
The Computación y Tecnologías Avanzadas de Extremadura Foundation (COMPUTAEX) was established in 2009 by the Regional Government of Extremadura as a non-profit foundation. The Foundation's purpose is to promote the development of information technologies, the use of high-performance computing, and advanced communications as tools for sustainable socioeconomic development. It encourages civil society participation by mobilizing resources and paying special attention to fostering cooperation between public and private research centers and the productive sector.
The Foundation's primary objective is the creation, operation, and management of the Extremadura Supercomputing Center and its supercomputer, Lusitania.
The center's core research areas are related to high-performance computing, artificial intelligence, and quantum computing.
