NEB-2025-01-PARTICIPATION-01 - ImpatTO project
About
The City of Torino is enthusiastic about taking part in a Consortium for the upcoming NEB Call HORIZON-NEB-2025-01-PARTICIPATION-01. The intention is to present our ImpatTO project as a compelling model for study and development.
ImpatTO is the City of Torino's initiative to create community hubs by establishing physical presences in public or easily accessible spaces. These hubs are designed to meet the social, cultural, and educational needs of residents, providing accessible services, particularly for disadvantaged groups. A core principle of the project is that activities will primarily take place in public spaces.
The ImpatTO project tackles several key urban challenges:
-
Activating Community Spaces for Arts and Entertainment: We aim to bring cultural and entertainment activities to areas not typically known for high night-time activity. This will help diversify and spread vibrant community life across the city.
-
Improving Safety in Underutilized Areas: By transforming unused, underused, or sparsely frequented locations into active community spaces, ImpatTO seeks to enhance the liveability and safety of public areas while introducing vital local services.
-
Enhancing Existing Public Services: The project also focuses on creating community spaces near existing public amenities like schools, universities, libraries, museums, theaters, and green spaces. This approach will foster engaging community-building, cultural, and social activities in the adjacent public areas.
ImpatTO has already selected 11 local initiatives. These will implement diverse community hubs, each tailored to address specific local challenges such as educational gaps, fostering a stronger sense of belonging, and improving the perception of security within their respective areas.
