Business-03: Business Model for re-use supply chain for construction materials

We're building a scalable business model and circular supply chain for re-used construction materials to make reuse the new standard in construction. Despite the technical feasibility of material reuse, structural and economic barriers persist: from missing logistics to liability and lack of insurance models.

Our project, led by öbu – Swiss Business Council for Sustainable Development, brings together stakeholders across the value chain: property owners, architects, deconstruction companies, insurers, regulators, and logistics providers. Together, we aim to:

• Establish commercially viable reuse logistics networks

• Develop a reuse-focused business model (e.g., joint ventures)

• Create a Digital Product Passport for tracking components

• Scale reuse supply chains for steel, wood, concrete, windows & more
