Post-conflict lived experience through participatory visual methods (DEMOCRACY-07)

Visual artist / Art-based research and communication (SME) at Perspective Cabinet

Stockholm, Sweden

About

I develop participatory visual methodologies that function as qualitative research tools to generate and articulate lived experience within research and innovation projects. These approaches support community-engaged research by enabling participants to produce visual and narrative material grounded in their own perspectives, particularly in complex and sensitive social contexts.

My work focuses on structuring how social perspectives are captured, interpreted, and translated into formats that engage researchers and communities, and enable dialogue with policy stakeholders. This includes the development of visual and narrative outputs—such as exhibitions, publications, and hybrid formats—that support dialogue, reflection, and policy-relevant communication.

This approach is grounded in field-based work with youth and women in marginalised and post-conflict contexts, including ongoing, locally initiated collaboration with women in Northern Uganda, as well as participatory projects in highly segregated urban environments in Sweden.

The aim is to contribute to research processes that not only generate qualitative knowledge, but also support how this knowledge is articulated, communicated, and mobilised within policy and societal contexts.
