About

Using visual art as a research method to generate qualitative knowledge within research and innovation projects. These methods support citizen engagement, co-creation, and research communication, aligning with the conceptual and methodological framework of each project.

My approach uses visual practices—such as participatory photography, drawing, and video—as epistemic tools to explore how research topics are experienced, interpreted, and negotiated in social contexts. These processes generate qualitative material combining visual and textual narratives, enabling participants to articulate perspectives, behaviours, and lived experiences.

The generated material supports qualitative analysis while contributing to a deeper understanding of societal dimensions of research. These methods contribute directly to research by generating qualitative evidence grounded in how societal and cultural processes are experienced, interpreted, and negotiated within everyday contexts.

Methods are carefully adapted to the project's theoretical positioning (e.g. critical, participatory, or applied frameworks), ensuring coherence with the overall research approach.

I also develop context-specific communication outputs emerging from the participatory process, supporting dialogue between researchers, stakeholders, policymakers, and communities.
