About
We want to build a project consortium in EU (and possibly further countries) that develops and tests a citizenship education curriculum in adult learning based on analysing different needs at different life stages of learners. The project combines a modular, adaptable curriculum with a practical “civic action lab” approach that engages learners in real democratic processes such as local decision-making, civic initiatives, and civil society participation (e.g. voting, volunteering, engagement).
The research component would investigate how participation in such programmes translates into real civic engagement, focusing on impact, underlying mechanisms, differences across life phases, and inclusion of underrepresented groups. A strong emphasis is placed on accessibility and inclusive design, particularly for learners with disabilities or basic skills needs. An in-depth look at different needs at different stages in the life of learners will be central.
