Nature-Based Public Spaces for Social Cohesion and Inclusive Urban–Rural Transitions

Associate Professor, Head of the Institute at Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra

Nitra, Slovakia

About

I am looking to join a consortium for Horizon Europe Cluster 2 projects focused on the role of public space, green infrastructure, and nature-based solutions in fostering social cohesion, inclusion, and resilient urban–rural transitions.

My expertise lies at the intersection of landscape architecture, participatory planning, cultural landscapes, and research-by-design. I work on how green and open spaces can function not only as ecological infrastructure, but also as social and cultural infrastructure that strengthens community ties, local identity, well-being, and inclusive governance.

I can contribute to projects addressing:

  • access to nature-positive environments and their social impacts,

  • inclusive and co-designed public spaces,

  • cultural ecosystem services,

  • participatory governance and co-creation,

  • resilient communities in urban, peri-urban, and rural contexts,

  • the integration of heritage, landscape, and public space in sustainable transformation.

I bring experience in coordinating and contributing to international research and education projects, as well as in linking research, policy, and professional practice. My background combines academic research, applied design, and implementation experience in public spaces, parks, cultural landscapes, and nature-based solutions.

I am particularly interested in collaborating with universities, municipalities, public authorities, NGOs, cultural organisations, and practice-based partners who are developing competitive consortia for Cluster 2 topics related to social cohesion, democracy, cultural heritage, and sustainable territorial transitions.
