Testing aesthetic and low-tech solutions to improve summer comfort in various contexts (condominiums, public buildings, tertiary sector, heritage buildings)
Project Manager, Grand Paris Climat at Grand Paris Climat

About
The issue of summer comfort is becoming increasingly important in housing renovation, particularly in more urban areas.
Solutions exist to combat heat, including simple and effective ones (solar shading, greening, etc.), but they are not yet widespread.
Our idea would be to implement technical and aesthetic solutions for summer comfort in condominiums, commercial buildings, schools, etc. to determine their effectiveness and the conditions for their proper use, involving professionals (architects, social landlords, etc.) and the decision-making chain to raise awareness of the issue of summer comfort. Low-tech and bioclimatic solutions should be prioritised.
A specific experiment could be conducted on one or more heritage buildings to determine the specific constraints (technical, regulatory, usage, etc.). The Greater Paris Metropolis has a significant heritage challenge, with 60% of its territory subject to protection.
The project can be developed in collaboration with manufacturers, designers and architects to design more aesthetically pleasing products for heritage buildings.
Here are the types of actions Grand Paris Climat can take on :
-
Identification of trial sites (buildings and areas)
-
Review of existing solutions
-
Liaison with various stakeholders: management, landlords, water agencies to raise awareness
-
Project advice and support
-
Conducting a before/after study with users
-
Developing a public policy support document to guide targeted subsidies towards residents and aesthetic solutions
-
Organising workshops and webinars to facilitate access to knowledge about these sustainable, aesthetic and affordable solutions in vulnerable communities (senior citizens, energy poverty, nurseries and schools, etc.)
