Renovating unfit housing
energy poverty policy officer at FEANTSA
Belgium
About
FEANTSA's energy poverty team brings several years of experience in EU renovation policy, particularly the EPBD and EED, with a strong focus on vulnerable households living in the worst-performing homes.
Our work promotes directing the Renovation Wave toward the poorest households, ensuring they can reach adequate and decent housing standards. We have collected case studies from across Europe on renovating unfit housing stock, consistently highlighting that energy efficiency measures must be combined with maintenance and repair measures to ensure long-term technical durability and dignified living conditions.
With our strong European network and policy expertise, we are ready to contribute with evidence on the housing conditions of vulnerable households, evidence on repaire needs, advocacy, and stakeholder engagement to ensure sustainable maintenance and repair measures effectively address the most pressing housing needs of vulnerable households.
