About
FORMA URBIS Lab is seeking to join a European consortium preparing a proposal for the NEB Facility – PARTICIPATION-02.
FORMA URBIS Lab is a research group at the Lisbon School of Architecture, Universidade de Lisboa, Portugal, specialised in urban morphology and morphogenesis, with a particular focus on the Portuguese city and the analysis of urban transformation.
The Lab’s main research objective is the development of the Morphological Atlas of the Portuguese City, a rigorous research-based knowledge base for understanding urban form, urban fabric, spatial structure, historical evolution and processes of transformation.
For a PARTICIPATION-02 consortium, FORMA URBIS Lab offers expertise in the morphological, historical and spatial understanding of neighbourhoods and urban areas. This knowledge can provide an evidence-based foundation for participatory processes, urban regeneration and transformation strategies.
Our expertise includes:
• Urban morphology and morphogenesis;
• Analysis of urban fabric and spatial structure;
• Historical and spatial evolution of neighbourhoods;
• Processes of urban transformation and regeneration;
• Comparative analysis of European urban contexts;
• Evidence-based knowledge supporting urban planning and urban design.
We do not bring participation as our primary expertise; we bring the knowledge of the place that makes meaningful participation and transformation possible.
We are looking to connect with European consortium coordinators and partners, particularly universities and research centres, municipalities, urban planning and design practices, cultural and creative organisations, and community or participatory organisations.
We are particularly interested in projects where understanding the existing urban fabric is a fundamental step towards co-creating more sustainable, inclusive, beautiful and resilient neighbourhoods.
FORMA URBIS Lab can contribute as a research partner, providing place-based knowledge, morphological analysis and comparative urban research to support the participatory transformation of European neighbourhoods.
Our contribution:
Urban morphology as a knowledge base for understanding and transforming European neighbourhoods.
