About
We offer Trådværket, a former industrial waterfront area currently being transformed into a regenerative mixed-use neighbourhood, as a large-scale demonstration site for adaptive reuse and sustainable urban transformation.
The project focuses on converting underutilised industrial land and infrastructure into a vibrant waterfront district that integrates climate adaptation, biodiversity, recreation, culture and community life.
Key interventions include the creation of a saltwater basin, a flowing water channel, blue-green infrastructure, public waterfront spaces and new connections between the city and the harbour.
Trådværket offers an opportunity to explore how obsolete industrial areas can be repurposed through circular and nature-based approaches while strengthening social cohesion, local identity and quality of life.
Middelfart Municipality brings experience in urban regeneration, citizen engagement, placemaking, climate adaptation and cross-sector collaboration. We are interested in collaborating with universities, research institutes, municipalities, architects, landscape architects and innovation partners working on adaptive reuse, circularity, governance models and community-led transformation.
We can contribute as a demonstration city, living lab and implementation partner for testing and validating innovative approaches to the reuse of underutilised spaces.
