About
The Atatürk Soil, Water and Agricultural Meteorology Research Institute, operating under the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of Türkiye, is a multidisciplinary public research institute with extensive experience in sustainable agriculture, climate change adaptation, soil and water management, agricultural meteorology, digital agriculture and environmental monitoring.
Our research focuses on developing science-based and innovative solutions that support climate-resilient and resource-efficient agricultural systems. We combine long-term field experiments, laboratory analyses, Earth Observation, UAV technologies, GIS, artificial intelligence and environmental modelling to generate high-quality data and practical decision-support tools.
Our core expertise includes:
-
Agricultural Digital Twins and smart farming technologies
-
Climate change adaptation and mitigation
-
Carbon farming, carbon accounting and MRV (Monitoring, Reporting and Verification)
-
Greenhouse gas (CH₄, CO₂ and N₂O) monitoring
-
Carbon and water footprint assessment
-
Soil health, soil fertility and soil carbon dynamics
-
Sustainable soil management
-
Precision irrigation and irrigation scheduling
-
Water use efficiency and drought management
-
Reuse of treated wastewater for agricultural irrigation
-
Agricultural meteorology and climate risk assessment
-
Earth Observation (Copernicus), UAV multispectral and thermal remote sensing
-
GIS, geospatial analysis and spatial modelling
-
Machine learning and AI models for climate forecasting, crop monitoring, yield prediction and irrigation optimization
-
Decision Support Systems (DSS) for climate-smart agriculture
-
Environmental impact assessment and sustainability evaluation
Our institute manages experimental fields and pilot sites where innovative technologies are tested under real agricultural conditions. By integrating field observations, meteorological data, satellite imagery, UAV measurements and advanced analytics, we develop scalable digital solutions that support farmers, researchers and policymakers.
We are particularly interested in collaborating within MSCA Doctoral Networks focusing on Digital Twins, Artificial Intelligence, Climate Adaptation, Carbon Farming, Sustainable Soil and Water Management, Earth Observation, Precision Agriculture and Environmental Monitoring.
We can contribute to consortiums through scientific supervision, field experimentation, pilot demonstrations, greenhouse gas monitoring, carbon accounting methodologies, AI-driven modelling, remote sensing applications, digital agriculture platforms, stakeholder engagement and dissemination activities.
Our objective is to co-develop innovative research that accelerates the transition towards climate-neutral, resilient and digitally enabled agricultural systems in Europe.
