ISEL PhD Opportunities: Cyber-Physical Systems & Energy Transition

Lisbon School of Engineering (ISEL) from the Polytechnic University of Lisbon is promoting two interdisciplinary doctoral programmes designed to address major technological and societal challenges:

PhD in Cyber-Physical Systems for Sustainable Development – A four-year doctoral programme focused on applied research in Cyber-Physical Systems, integrating sensing, computation, communication and control with physical processes to address the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The programme brings together expertise in Electronics, Computer Engineering, Physics and Biomedical Engineering to develop innovative solutions for smart cities, resilient infrastructures, sustainable energy systems, digital health and advanced industry.

PhD in Decarbonization and Energy Transition – An interdisciplinary doctoral programme that prepares highly qualified specialists to design, implement and assess sustainable energy systems from both engineering and economic perspectives. The programme covers clean and low-carbon technologies, energy generation and distribution, resource economics, energy regulation and markets, with doctoral research focused on solving complex real-world challenges, preferably in collaboration with industry.
