The University of Cagliari (Università degli Studi di Cagliari - UNICA) founded in 1620, is the largest university in Sardinia and with about 25.000 students is classified as a medium size university in Italy. UNICA is offering comprehensive and unique public education, cutting edge research and multi-discipline education programmes for the student community. The University of Cagliari is a point of reference for higher education and research activities, it is composed of 6 faculties, 15 departments, 1 university hospital, about 100 among undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate programmes covering almost every field of knowledge. With about 1000 professors and 1000 administrative personnel it is one of the largest public administrations and working community in the area. UNICA encourages its faculties to participate in international research and educational programmes, promotes scientific and technological collaboration with foreign universities and counts a wide international network. Within Horizon 2020 framework programme, UNICA has been granted 36 projects (of which 15 still active) with a total funding of about 9 million euros. Within Horizon Europe framework programme UNICA has been granted 8 projects with a total funding of about 2 million euros. UNICA is active in the joint initiatives such as Eranet, Prima, AAL, IMI2 and in cooperation projects such as COST, Interreg, ENI CBC MED, Life and EuropeAid. UNICA participates also to NIH and private American foundations programmes.
