About
The BETA Technological Centre of the University of Vic-Central University of Catalonia was founded in 2014, with the aim of boosting the research carried out at this university in the environmental and sustainability fields. Today, it is an internationally recognised centre, with extensive experience in knowledge transfer to companies, and in the participation and coordination of competitive European projects. In addition, it actively participates in numerous clusters, associations and sectoral working groups at local, national and international level. Since its creation, it is also a member of the Network of TECNIO Centres of Catalonia.
CT BETA’s mission is to put research and innovation at the service of rural territories, to help them become more sustainable, competitive and in better balance with the urban world. It works to be a useful actor for the activity of various economic sectors, with special attention to the agri-food sector, but also for the public administration, the academic world and civil society, with the idea of advancing together to improve the quality of life in rural areas.
Since its beginnings, it has worked with the vision of forming a multidisciplinary scientific team that will enable it to address the complexity of the main environmental, social and economic challenges of the rural world from the perspective of the circular bioeconomy.
Furthermore, CT BETA also aims to become a pioneering actor in the integration of environmental, economic and social sustainability in decision-making in the industrial sectors with which it collaborates, as well as to develop the capacity to have a direct influence on all levels of public administration, to accompany the development of new environmental policies based on scientific evidence.
