European Health & Economic Digital Twin: Advanced Intelligence for System Efficiency and Resilience

About

This project develops an Advanced Health‑Economics Digital Twin for the European Union, integrating real‑time clinical, demographic and macroeconomic data into a unified intelligence infrastructure. The platform models health systems as complex adaptive networks, enabling continuous monitoring of efficiency, equity, resilience and fiscal sustainability across Member States.

Using high‑resolution econometric engines, AI‑driven causal inference and dynamic simulation, the Digital Twin provides:

  • Real‑time health‑economic indicators (expenditure, outcomes, capacity, inequalities)

  • Predictive modelling of system stress, demographic shocks and fiscal trajectories

  • Efficiency frontier analysis to identify optimal investment corridors

  • Cross‑country benchmarking for policy convergence and structural reforms

  • Scenario simulation for crisis preparedness, surge capacity and long‑term sustainability

The project establishes a pan‑European intelligence layer capable of supporting evidence‑based policymaking, enabling Member States to transition from reactive health governance to predictive, data‑driven system management. By combining digital twins, advanced econometrics and AI, the project aims to create the first EU‑wide Health‑Economics Twin, a strategic asset for improving population health, reducing inequalities and optimizing public spending.
