About
For bioeconomy and engineering R&D projects that require trustworthy validation beyond lab scale, ALTATEC provides an industrial scale-up piloting facility called "Scale-Up-Technikum." By offering a professional setting for piloting, process verification, and data generation under realistic, industry-relevant circumstances, we assist partners in bridging the crucial gap between encouraging lab results and practical implementation.
Our primary contribution is practical scale-up support: we collaborate with project teams to convert ideas and lab procedures into reliable pilot trials, spot bottlenecks early, and produce results that are ready for decision-making for the subsequent stage of development (deployment, industrial partner uptake, or demonstration). This includes organizing and carrying out trials, modifying operating windows, facilitating process integration, and recording results in a format that is helpful for technology transfer and subsequent scale-up, depending on the project.
There are two ways we can get involved in projects:
• As a consortium partner, we can support dissemination and exploitation with a strong industry perspective and contribute piloting work packages, validation activities, and implementation-oriented engineering input.
• As a subcontractor, offering specified piloting services, trial execution, measurements, and reporting in accordance with predetermined specifications and milestones.
For projects involving biomass-based value chains, biobased products, circular processing routes, or environmental/industrial sustainability issues that call for practical piloting and scale-up evidence, we are especially well-positioned. Our job is to make development concrete by lowering technical risk, speeding up learning cycles, and providing reliable pilot data that increases the project's impact and potential for exploitation.
Research institutes, academic institutions, SMEs, businesses, and project coordinators who require a stable scale-up environment and an implementation-focused partner are among the organizations we are interested in working with. We are pleased to talk about scope, interfaces, and the best cooperation model if you are forming a consortium or organizing pilot work for an ongoing project.
